Course Grades Page

  • The lesser of two Grades
    • Whichever is the lower grade between the Research grade and the writings/quizzes is the overall grade you can achieve in the course.
    • For example, if you obtain an A grade in the writing/Quizzes and a C grade on the Research project, you will only obtain a C grade for the entire course. You will NOT receive an average of the two.
  • Part ONE: Research
    • See the Side Quest Research Project for its parts.
    • Passing all of the Side Quest Research steps does not guarantee you a passing grade in the class.
    • With all 13 of 13 annotated bib entries completed, you can go on to obtain a C, a B, or an A in the course. In order to get a "C" in the course, you must complete the Annotated Bibliography. To obtain a B, you must do the Literature Review. To obtain an A you must do the Presentation.
    • With only 10 of 13 annotated bib entries completed, you can go on to obtain a C or a B. In order to get a "C" in the course, you must complete the Annotated Bibliography. To obtain a B, you must do the Literature Review. You cannot do the Presentation to get the A grade.
    • With only 8 of 13 annotated bib entries completed, you can only obtain a C in the course. In order to get a "C" in the course, you must complete the Annotated Bibliography. You cannot obtain a B or an A grade.
  • Part TWO: 10 Writings and 10 Quizzes
    • As success in this course does not depend on 100% completion of assignments, there are no make-up quizzes due to your absence from or lateness to class.
    • Quizzes are general reading quizzes; if you read the ASSIGNED weekly materials, you'll pass the quizzes.
    • You can make up any missed quiz percentage on the Final Exam aka the Final Boss Fight
    • Writings are each graded as Pass/Redo.
    • Redo writings must done to satisfactory achievement.
    • I accept no other writings until former Redos are passed OR until you say to throw out that writing and not count it.
    • You must satisfactorily pass 70% of any of the ten weekly writings AND 70% of any of the ten weekly quizzes to obtain an A in the course
    • You must satisfactorily pass 60% of any of the ten weekly writings AND 60% of any of the ten weekly quizzes to obtain an B in the course

    • Finishing All Writings & Quizzes Early in the Term
      • Once you have obtained your desired letter grade (see Your Final Grade above), you need not do any more writings & quizzes, and you can then focus all of your energy on the steps in the Side Quest Research project.
    • The Final Exam aka The Final Boss Fight
      • The Final Exam aka the Final Boss Fight is for those who want to raise their passing percent of quizzes.
